"Always there for their community"
The Well in the Desert gratefully acknowledges the generous grant given to the Well in 2011. Their understanding of our mission made sure that 10,000 individuals received a hot, healthy and nutritious meal. Our eternal thanks to The Weingart Foundation.
Atria Palm Desert, an assisted living community located at 44-300 San Pascual Avenue, donated 20 cases of water and other food items to the Well in the Desert, a non-profit providing poverty prevention programs to the poor as well as seniors, in Palm Springs. Atria Palm Desert Community Sales Director Cassandra Ferrier and Atria Palm Desert Director of Culinary Services presented the donation on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Sunline Transit Agency |
||
| Nobody without a home or enough money for food should have to go hungry over the holidays, and if SunLine Transit Agency and participating grocers have their way, hundreds will avoid that unpleasant fate. The transportation agency is organizing its annual “Fill the Bus” Food Drive on November 20 – 21 to benefit The Well in the Desert. The state-of-the-art 40-foot hydrogen-fuel cell bus will be parked at four designated Coachella Valley grocery stores during the two dates, and is asking residents to bring their canned goods, toiletries and non-perishable food items to fill the bus. Once filled, the donated items will be bused directly to the Well in the Desert, the morning of November 24, in time for the holidays to help those in need. SunLine Transit Agency has served the Coachella Valley for over 30 years, providing safe, reliable, environmentally conscious public transportation. Helping those in need is one of the many ways the agency continues to serve the community. | ||

Millions of pounds of produce are left for a variety of reasons - cosmetic blemishes, overproduction, dwindling market price. We also recover many hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce each year from area packing houses. This fresh and nutritious produce is delivered free of charge to over 60 local agencies that serve the poor and hungry.
